A message from MIFM graduate Ms Liu Gloria Fang

Gloria is a MIFM graduate, who has now completed her degree studies at LaTrobe University in Australia.

The moment I graduated from La Trobe University, I felt like a little angel who has just acquired its wings but haven’t learnt how to use it. Looking back the years I spent studying first with MIFM then La Trobe University, it was amazing that how much I’ve grown. Every moment in the past few years was filled with pain and struggle, but at the same time also with fulfillments and happiness. When I did the Advanced Diploma of Business at MIFM, I was just a simple minded little girl full of dreams. It was a moment full of sunshine when I finally arrived at Australia to study at La Trobe University. I began to work part-time soon after my university started; I discovered that the skills I learnt from the Australian teachers in MIFM were not only the English language and professional knowledge but also the attitude and the way of thinking towards life.

My attitude has been changed further during the two years I studied for the Bachelor Degree at La Trobe University. In Australia students take control of their own learning by taking initiative in their study. Different learning environment and the strong will of improving my English level motivated me to study hard. Two years of studying with MIFM has equipped me with sufficient English language skills and gave me the ability of adapting to Australian educational system, therefore it was not difficult for me to study 4 subjects in a semester at La Trobe University. However, Life is not without pressure, the pressure of make a living while studying, the pressure of uncertainty about future made me feel lost occasionally, but this further firmed my decision to look and move forward.

I obtained Australian Permanent Resident visa two weeks after my graduation ceremony. It was very exciting and it gave me the opportunity to look at myself more objectively, I feel so confident that I think I am capable of achieving all the goals I set in life inure.

A French quotation, “Qui Cherche Trouve”, forms a part of La Trobe University’s logo and is the motto of the University. Its English meaning is “who ever seeks shall find”. In my opinion, this motto stands not only for the spirit of discovery in the academic world, but also an attitude towards life – we need to face up the challenges. My university study has been completed but my life has just begun, before I use my newly acquired wings I must find my bearings first. There is so much ahead of me, I am looking forward to a brighter and more exciting future.
